Note: Our team at Charikot Panorama Resort in Dolakha.

Good news for trekkers who dream of getting off the beaten treks and who strive to discover and enjoy the real Nepal. Almost untouched but easily accessible the Dolakha region, part of the Rolwaling area, offers everything from beautiful rhododendron forests to high snow peaks like the holy Mt. Gauri Shankar massive for the Hindu and believed to be second kailsh for the Buddhist Lapchi Kang are all here. The region offers scenic trekking at relatively low elevations as well as challenging alpine style trekking. Those who are interested in the rich culture and history in this unspoiled area will be fascinated by meeting various ethnic groups like Tamang, Newar and the mysterious Thami. The great ethnic diversity throughout the area manifesting itself in a wide range of religious practices, lifestyle, food habits, clothing and architecture. A wealth of functioning Buddhist monasteries and Hindu religious sites welcome visitors and invite them to stay in the monasteries. This is a region particularly attractive to trekkers interested in the local area and culture, visitors who enjoy the places to stay in and people they meet.

Travelling to Dolakha

This journey through Nepal is a wonderful chance to see the world once again through the eyes of a child. We spend a couple of days in Kathmandu exploring some of its many treasures of art and culture before heading north to the border with Tibet.

We spend an afternoon relaxing in the country side near the border with Tibet in the fantastic “Last Resort”. We then the next day begin our trek through the mid hills of Nepal. This trek will take us from the Hindu tribes of the lower elevations up to the Sherpa country in the higher elevations and we get a chance to learn about their culture and religion while visiting a couple of fascinating Monasteries. This trek also offers some spectacular views of the high Himalayas in this part of Nepal.

The trek ends near Dolakha where the next and most exciting part of our journey begins. Here we meet the children whom we will be travelling with for the rest of our trip. We will spend a wonderful day visiting their school and have them show us around their village. The next few days will be packed with experiences that neither the kids nor we are likely to ever forget. We take them sightseeing in Kathmandu, take the cable car at Manakamana, visit the birthplace of Nepal and take some time to relax and enjoy the stunning setting of Pokhara. We then wrap it up with an unforgettable flight alongside the Himalayan Range back to Kathmandu!

Our successful Monsoon treks to Kanchenjunga.

Kanchenjunga, the world's third highest mountain & one of the worlds biggest massif lies on Nepal's eastern border with Sikkim. It is a beautiful, unspoilt wilderness area which boasts some of the most impressive mountain scenery on Earth.

On this trek it takes you through fascinating Rai and Limbu villages and pristine forests to the awe-inspiring South Face Base Camp at Ramche, before crossing the Mirgin La (pass) to the north side of Kanchenjunga and the Pang Pama Base Camp.

The magnificent mountain views of Kanchenjunga and surrounding mountains, traditional villages, cascading mountain rivers and scarcity of other trekkers combine to make this trek a glorious and unforgettable experience. This season our team along with Ms. Monique Hummel had successfully completed this trek. Monsoon trekking can be a beautiful, haunting experience that offers a glimpse into how trekking in Nepal used to be.

The monsoon in Nepal lasts from June to early September and its severity varies from year to year.
