DAY 13: LUKLA- KATHMANDU

Finally after arriving at Lukla, place where the most dangerous airport in the world is located, we were ready to go back home. It is not that the airport is dangerous due to the low maintenance or lack of qualified pilots but the fact that the landscape there is the main obstacle of your safe air journey. As soon as your flight takes off, there high massive hills which you have to cross.

Now getting back from the technical explanation, let’s get into the thing for which I am writing this blog is for. The day when we went to Lukla, we were as I have already mentioned in my previous blogs, very tired. We had walked for eight hours that day, 5 hours to Phakding and from that it took us 3 hours to reach Lukla. These sun had already set, and it was already dark. We were very hungry as well. Though we had our lunch at Phakding, I do not know why but my stomach was still feeling like empty. As soon as we reached our hotel, we went into our rooms and got fresh. Yes…, our bodies were all soaked up in the sweat but still I decided not to bath, as I had already done in such a cold weather. I decided to take bath after I reach home, the other day. As compared to the other spots on the trail up to the Everest base camp, Lukla was the most facilitated one in terms of food and accommodation. As soon as we got fresh, we asked the owners to prepare dinner for us as soon as possible. After half an hour, we were called for the dinner. That plate filled with that white rice ……., oh god, never in my life had I thought that DAL- BHAT could be so desirable for me. The food was delicious and after we had our dinner, we went to our room and had a peaceful sleep.

The next morning we woke up to the site of the beautiful hills and mountains which we will miss for the rest of our lives. But who knows what happens in the future, maybe I will get the chance to visit this place once again in my life. After a few hours in this beautiful place, I will be in a completely different place, a completely different world. The world where you are supposed to be practical and active. This trip was something I will remember all my life. Scarlet was kind of emotional as she was living us and getting back to her country. She had come to this trip to overcome her break up ad on the way to the trip, she finally met her soul mate, Harry. Both of them made a cute couple. Harry was from Canada. We promised to stay in contact and they promised to invite me their wedding too.

After packing all the bags and getting ready we went to the airport, all of us got into the plane. And after a while, our air journey had started. The view from the plane was much more soothing, that panoramic view was eye catching. After a while, we got to see the Boudhanth stupa from the plane, all of us started shouting and cheering. We were finally at the sky of the capital city of the country that is Kathmandu. After flying for 35 minutes, we landed on the Tribhuwan international airport. Scarlet and other fellow foreign trekkers had to complete some procedure so they stayed there in the airport. I was excited to go back home and dad was already waiting outside for me. So I said bye to them and promised scarlet to meet her whenever come to US, and from there i went outside, I saw my dad’s reaction. He was like “you have lost so much weight…….” And yeah I went back to my house.
