13 Days In Nepal To Mt. Everest | Day 6

6th June, 2019 | Highlander

Rest Day

Though we had to walk only for 3 hours to reach Dingboche from Tyanboche, as the landscape was getting difficult, the patches were snowier and slippery, we had to walk very carefully. We were going to the upper altitude day by day. Due to the constantly up going trail, it was hard to climb up. The calf of my leg was so painful. I was about to quit the trip but I kept my spirit high. Finally the tour operators declared that it is going to be a rest day that is acclimatization day for the sixth day. It made me really happy to hear that. Now I could finally sleep for little longer time. The day before, when we arrived from Tyanboche to Dinboche, we were already very tired. Our body was full of salty liquid. Even though the weather was very cold, our body was ignited. As soon as we reached to our designated rooms, we asked the owner to boil water so that we could bath. Along with the trip, we had to keep in mind that we are clean also. After having bath, there was a source of relaxation in our body. The hot water worked like an ointment. I and Scarlet were having our coffee as soon as we finished bathing. We were scrolling through all the pictures and videos we had clicked and recorded all through our journey. Suddenly, we were notified about the dinner time. We went downstairs, all the other team members had already gathered there. All of us ate together, the food was satisfying. The fact that I was already very hungry might have made that food much tasteful. After that we decided to have fun, some of them narrated their stories of their previous vacation while others were singing and dancing.

The next morning we woke up to the pleasant view of surrounding through our window. As it was rest day, we woke up little late then usual days. People had already started their daily cores, we saw kid playing outside, some people were busy with their yaks and women were filling the water jars in the public tap. The view was amazing, the sun had just risen and the way its rays were hitting the peak of those mountains combined to create an amazing view.

We brushed our teeth, washed our face and then went downstairs. We were served with eggs and an apple pancake which was really tasty. We got ready for the acclimatization day. The tours operators had told us about today’s routine. Unfortunately, our gadgets had stopped working so we couldn’t film that day but I am happy that instead of capturing that beautiful and memorable day in a camera, we had captured it in our hearts. Something that we can possibly narrate to our grandkids when we get older.

The fact that Dingboche doesn’t have a police station or hospital amazed be. Even if anybody required the help of the policeman in some cases, the police had to walk from Namche to Dingboche. On this day, we had planned to go Chukhung village which is a place near to the Lhotse and other mountains. This village was located in the altitude of 4730 meters that means 15,518 feet. We went there, in fact it took some time for us to reach their. After visiting that village, I felt like the Himalayan life is much simpler and easier than the city life. So peaceful and calming. While the city life had issues regarding technologies, the Himalayan life was still struggling with the basic problems, which I think is the sad fact of our country.

After the rest day in that beautiful village we came back to our lodge and had our dinner and slept early as we were expected to wake up early tomorrow.
