1. Momo is like the “National Dish” in Nepal

If you have visited Nepal and have not tried Mo Mo, then the visit is incomplete. This little Tibetan dumplings which are filled with meat and vegetables inside and are served with pickle or ‘chutney’ will definitely blow your mind. There are many hotels and restaurants that will serve you with Momo in various forms and flavors.

2. Multi-lingual Country

Though the national language in Nepal is Nepali but only 44.2% of the total population speaks in Nepali. There are 123 other languages spoken in Nepal. Most dominant are Tamang language, Newari, Bhojpuri, Maithali and so on. So do not feel and unusual when you interact with people here. People are friendly here and will welcome you with open arms.

3. Colony free country

An amazing thing to know about Nepal is that Nepal has no any independence day as it was never colonized by any other country. We are all thankful to our brave Gorkhali forefathers for that.

4. Avoid smooching in the public

Though you are allowed to pee anywhere but you are not allowed to smooch in public. There was no any rules made for that, for now being intimate in public place is a criminal offence in Nepal. You may not get cought by the police right away but people are definitely not going to welcome such activities. And you definitely are going to be judged if you are found doing something like this.

5. Crossing of Roads

The capital city of the country, Kathmandu has been installed with very few traffic lights. Most of the people do not even follow the instructions of traffic light well. The rules are not strictly implemented here and hence, some people recklessly drive in Nepal. Be careful while walking on the streets and even more when crossing roads. Not that everyone is careless here, but it won’t hurt to be a bit more careful on the streets.

6. Passengers carrying local bus

If you see the local vehicles and people hanging at the door of it, then do not worry, it is common in Nepal. Mainly during the office rush hours, local vehicles are quite packed. Well, you have to reach your destination on time. Although, the traffic suggests not to carry more than the capacity the bus, the drivers take in the passengers while the passengers are also compelled to get in to reach their destination on time. Initiation of Carpool applications are gaining popularity and this does help the peope to some extent.
