ISLAND PEAK CLIMBING

If you are looking for a Peak Climbing experience in the Everest region, the Island Peak Climbing is probably the best choice you have. This 6189 meters high Peak Climbing experience will be both challenging and adventurous. Island Peak Climbing is also perfect for those who are looking for first time experience of Peak Climbing.

As you head upwards, you will face rocky terrais, zig- zag up hills and fantastic views of the mountains. Amongst the many peaks on Everest region, it is one of the most popular peak for climbing with an impressive and highly glaciated west face that rises from Lhotse Glacier. Compared to the other peaks, Island Peak should be climbed with little more technical knowledge and applications.

This peak not only gives you the pleasure of enjoying the humongous and massive mountains but also takes us into the heartland of Khumbu valley and Sherpa culture. Island Peak Climbing Itinerary

The itinerary of the Island Peak Climbing has some proper and gradual acclimatization at suitable intervals. So you can rest for a while and see the alluring view of majestic mountains. This Island Peak Climbing does not require any climbing experience. If you are fit and physical health is good, you can climb this peak. However, acclimatization breaks should be taken as per the itinerary.

Day 01: Kathmandu – Lukla – Phakding (2600m)

Day 02: Phakding – Namche Bazaar (3440m)

Day 03: Rest day/Acclimatization Day

Day 04: Namche – Tyangboche (3860m)

Day 05: Tyangboche – Dingboche (4300m)

Day 06: Rest day/Acclimatization Day

Day 07: Dingboche – Chhukung (4730m)

Day 08: Rest Day and Climb Chhukung Ri (5550m)

Day 09: Chhukung to Island Peak Base camp (5200m)

Day 10: Pre-Climb training on Island Peak Base Camp

Day 11-12: Climbing period (Island Peak Base Camp to Summit 6189m and back to Base Camp)

Day 13: Island Peak Base Camp to Pangboche (3985m)

Day 14: Pangboche to Namche Bazaar (3440m)

Day 15: Namche Bazaar – Lukla (2840m)

Day 16: Lukla – Kathmandu

This peak was given the name “Island Peak” as it resembles to an island surrounded by a sea of ice when viewed from Dingboche. It is also called Imja Tse but it is more popular as “Island Peak”.
