13 Days in Nepal to Mt. Everest | Day 4

NAMCHE BAZAAR – TENGBOCHE

Finally, after a long and fruitful rest or acclimatization day, we again had to tighten our shoe laces for the Day 4 trek from Namche bazaar to Tengboche. The day before was extremely fun as we did not had to worry about the kilometers we need to walk but instead of that we got the chance to roam around, learn and see the people of a different culture and learn about their lifestyle. I do not know about others, but one thing that I learnt from those people was, no matter how challenging your life is, you still have to be happy rather than complain about every little problem you have to face in your life. I was a girl living in the capital city of the country, I belonged to a facilitated place where my parents had given and provided me everything I could have ever asked and I still used to make complains about my life. But when I saw those little kids, with their torn clothes and face unwashed, their cute little smile was everything for me to get inspired. They didn’t demand for the big things, neither they had but they were still happy.

Now let’s get back to the trip after a long life changing lesson that I had learnt. I already had the idea that it is going to be more challenging than it was before. We will have to compromise and make adjustments regarding the food we eat and the place we sleep. So I was mentally prepared for everything. We were at the elevation of 3440 meters above the sea level that means 11290 feet and we were aiming to reach to the altitude of 3867 meters above the sea level that means 12687 feet. We literally had to walk for 4 hours to complete the distance of 9.2 kilometers. The oxygen level was also going to decrease as we move upwards.

We already had filled our stomach with carbohydrates and hydrated ourselves. The weather was really cold. Now as the trip had begun, the most beautiful thing was the sunrise behind those mountain with the bluish sky at its tops, really synchronized to create a magical view. Honestly, it gave me all the motivation and energy I could have ever had. On the way to the trail, there were women with a donation box in her hand. Initially I thought that she might be sick or  some member of her family, but then I realized that it was collected for the maintenance of the trail. WelI, I gave her some and continued my journey. The patches were slippery and I wondered how the porters who were carrying our loads would make it to the top. As we move near to our destination, we saw a police check post which usually asks the climbers or trekkers’ TIM’s card and Park permit. After we saw some buildings and the full view of the Ama Dablam peak, you will realize that you have finally reached to Tengboche. The view of actual Everest seems so beautiful from here that you won’t get to see from the actual Everest base camp, you will only see the tip.
