PANCH POKHARI

Panch Pokhari is situated in Sindhupalchok District of Nepal. Paanch Pokhari, the name itself explains that this pond is made by the accumulation of five different lakes. It is one of the majoy attractions of Lantang National Park and adds a feature to it. This pond is situated at an elevation of 4100 meters above the sea level making it the ninth highest altitude wetland in the world. It is a famous site for indoor tourist especially during the day of Janai Purnima. Panch Pokhari lies north from the capital city, Kathmandu. Despite being close to Kathmandu, this place is still one of the remote places with beautiful vista yet to be explored by the lots of outdoor tourist. It is located at the base of Jugal himal.

PANCH POKHARI TREKKING

Panch Pokhari has now become a famous trekking site for lots of people. The best season to trek here is between March and May having the cultural, ecological and religious importance. Many people from all over Nepal prefer to visit this place during the festival of Janai Purnima. This is the festival where men change a holy thread (called Janai), which they wrap around their body and people tie a thread on their hand as a sign of protection. That is why the five ponds that is Paanch Pokhari is considered as a holy and a sacred place. The trek to Panch Pokhari will take you towards the Sherpa and Tamang villages. With the large number of Sherpa and Buddhist monasteries, you can actually get into the culture and learn from it. If you are an enthusiastic about how people live, what they eat and what they eat, you must go to these places to know the importance and learn the importance of Nepali culture.

PANCH POKHARI TREKKING ITINERARY

This is a ten day trek from Kathmandu. The actual trekking journey starts from Chautara which is five hours drive from Kathmandu. After spending a night at Chautara, you will be heading towards Phusre which is at an altitude of 2,045 meters above the sea level. You spend the second night there in Phusre. From Phusre, you will be then going upwards to Kami Kharkha which is at the altitude of 2,845 meters above the sea level. The landscape up to this place is diverse and very soothing. Again from Kami Kharkha, you will be aiming to reach Pauwa Bas which is at the altitude of 3000 meters above the sea level. From the Pauwa Bas, you will go upwards to Hile Bhaanjyang which is at te altitude of 3400 meters and finally the very next day you will reach Nasim Pati which is at the altitude of 3700 meters above the sea level and that is where your ultimate destination, that is Panch Pokhari.
