The Everest Base Camp Trek and Annapurna Base Camp Trek are the most popular and most-visited trekking routes in Nepal. While there are many more trekking routes in Nepal, these two trekking routes welcome the most number of trekkers each year. This decision of choosing where to go trekking in Nepal can decide whether your trek becomes fun or not and your cost as well. ANNAPURNA BASE CAMP TREK

Annapurna Base Camp is a major trekkers destinationin the Annapurna Mountain Region. The Annapurna Base Camp is situated at an altitude of 4130 meters. The itinerary up to the camp is very alluring consisting of fertile land to rich rhododendron forests to the snowy mountains.

Altitude/Altitude Sickness
You can find lots of news about the number of deaths happening in the Everest Region due to altitude sickness. No wonder, it is the highest peak in the world. The Everest Base Camp is at a height of 5364 meters whereas that of Annapurna Base Camp is 4130 meters. So preferably, if you have problem with altitude sickness then I won’t suggest you to go for Everest Base Camp. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you won’t get the altitude sickness while in Annapurna Base Camp but comparably you will feel less difficult than that in Everest Base Camp.
Journey
The journey up to the Annapurna Base Camp is much more strenuous as the ascent is very fluctuating. Sometimes, it is steep climb whereas sometimes it is steep descent. But when it comes to Everest Base Camp, the ascent is constant which makes the journey simpler compared to the Annapurna Base Camp.
Landscapes
If you are someone who prefers to enjoy the trekking experience along with beautiful mountain views, waterfalls and rivers then Annapurna Base Camp will be better choice for you. The itinerary up to the Annapurna Base Camp consists of rich forest and scenic beauty which makes it more captivating whereas you won’t really get to see such kind of diversified landscape up to the Everest Base camp. But if you want to enjoy more snowy and mountainous view than Everest Base Camp is for better you.

Itinerary
If you are on a vacation for limited period of time, I suggest you to go for Annapurna Base Camp trek as the whole journey is for 12 days whereas for the Everest Base Camp trek, it takes about 15 days. The Annapurna Base Camp trek can be further shortened and completed in 6-7 days.

Physical Preparation
If you are planning to go for Everest Base Camp trek then you must have muscle strength. If you are already prepared with enough physical strength, then the trip up to the Everest Base Camp won’t be much challenging for you. Whereas for Annapurna Base Camp you do not have to seriously work on your physical strength. For both treks, you definitely need some stamina though.
Best Season or WeatherIf you are planning to trek in Nepal during the monsoon season then Everest Base Camp is the best option. Due to its altitude, it has lower chances of receiving rainfall. And if you are going to trek during winter, then Annapurna Base Camp can be the better option as during winters, the temperature in Everest region reaches upto -20 Celsius and below while in the Annapurna region it is remains around -8 Celsius.
