visist nepal 2020 intro

For someone who is completely new to this whole idea of trekking in Nepal, this question must be the first thing that comes to your mind. This multiple choice question in the real exam of your life can cost you a lot.  While choosing an itinerary, you have to consider certain things such as weather, altitude, height and landscapes.

Annapurna base camp

Consisting of the 10th highest peak in the world – Mt. Annapurna along with the fishtail mountain, Annapurna base camp is the major tourist, especially trekkers’ destination site. The maximum altitude of Annapurna base camp is 4130 meter. The itinerary up to the camp is very alluring consisting of fertile land to the rich rhododendron to the snowy mountains.

Everest base camp

One of the most visited site in Nepal, the Everest base camp is in the priority of trekkers. Consisting of the highest peak in the world the maximum altitude to this camp is 5364 meters. The journey starts from the world’s dangerous Lukla airport and ends there.

Landscape

If you are someone who prefers to enjoy   the trekking experience along with beautiful Mountain View, waterfall, river, mountain animal then Annapurna base camp can be your choice. The itinerary up to the camp consists of rich forest and scenic beauty which makes it more captivating whereas you won’t really get to see such kind of diversified landscape up to the Everest Base camp. But if you want to enjoy more snowy and mountainous view than Everest is for you my friend.

Altitude sickness

There are lots of news published about the number of death happening in the Everest base camp due to altitude sickness. No wonder, it is the highest peak in the world.  The maximum altitude of this camp is 5364 meters whereas that of Annapurna base camp is 4130 meters. So preferably, if you have problem with altitude sickness then I won’t suggest you to go for Everest. This doesn’t mean that you won’t get the altitude sickness completely while in Annapurna base camp but comparably you will get less than that of Everest.

Journey

The journey up to the Annapurna base camp is much more strenuous as the ascent is very fluctuating. Sometimes it is very up and sometimes it is very low. But when it comes t0o Everest base camp, the ascent is constant which will be simpler compared to the Annapurna base camp.

Itinerary

If you are on a vacation for limited period of time, I will suggest you to go for Annapurna base camp as the whole journey is for 12 days whereas for the Everest base camp it lasts for 15 days.

Physical preparation

Though climbing a mountain is not a joke at all and especially if you plan to go for Everest base camp then you must have muscle strength. If you are already prepared with enough physical strength, then the trip up to the Everest base camp won’t be challenging for you. Whereas for Annapurna base camp you do not have to seriously work on your physical strength.

Perfect weather

If you have landed to Nepal during the monsoon season then Everest base camp is a great option. Due to its altitude, it has lower chances for rainfall. And if you have landed during winters then Annapurna base camp can be a great option as during winters, the temperature in Everest base camp is -20 Celsius and in Annapurna it is -8 Celsius.
