1. Laphing

Laphing is a famous street food in Nepal which is a derivation of a Tibetan food. You can find it easily in many places of the country. But if you ever make it to Boudhanath, make sure you try Laphing there because Laphing of Boudhanath is really famous amongst us local people and also the foreigners. The quality is also worthy of the hype. If your mouth is craving for a spicy and flavorsome food, then Laphing is the one of you. It is noodle kind of food which is made out of the starch of flour or potato. The first time you try it, you may not like is as the flavors can possibly overwhelm you but as soon as you start trying it again and again, you will love it.

2. Mo Mo

Mo Mo is a dish any Nepali just simply loves. Momo is a dish which is widely famous amongst the foreigners as well, as an authentic food. They are likeTibetian dumplings but are smaller in size. You basically take a doe, make a circular structure out of it and fill it with Keema, it can either be vegetarian or non-vegetarian. They are usually steamed but you can try them Fried or Kothe. Many people are trying their best to establish their business by adding the fusion to the Momo.

3. Bara or Wo

Bara is a Newari that is made out of lentils. The lentils are soaked up in the water a night before and the next day, it is grind to form a paste like structure. Now this paste is poured in hot oil and flipped to cook bothsides. The Bara found in Bhaktapur and Patan areas are very famous. You can try Bara with pickle or curry as per your choice.

4. Sel Roti

Sel Roti is one of the most famous food in Nepal which has been made from years and passed down generation to generation. This is usually made in special occasions like Tihar. It is made from grinding the raw rice and made to be paste. To this paste ghee and sugar is added. Now this paste is poured in the hot oil forming a circular structure like a donut but more leaner.

5. Sekuwa

If you are vegan then unfortunately this is not for you. Sekuwa is one of the most desirable food in Nepal. It is served in many places of Nepal. If you are craving for a traditional Nepali barbeque then Sekuwa is the best thing you could possibly try. You can either try it as chicken, buff or mutton. My personal favorite is Yangtaru Sekuwa Corner located in Kapan, Kathmandu but don't just take my opinion for it.

6. Thukpa

Imagine, it is raining outside and all you feel is the need to have a bowl of a hot soup. Then, get up from your bed and go try a tasty bowl of Thukpa. Originally, it is a Tibetian noodle dish on which vegetables and meat are spread. It not only satisfies your of having a but also satisfy your .

7. Chatamari

There are many places where Chatamari has been fusion and created as a Nepali Pizza. When in Nepal, try the authentic one. You can try your pizza anytime when you go back to your home country. The main ingredient used in Chatamri is the rice flour. It is a Newari food which is available in different eateries in Nepal. You will find it mainly in Newar localities like Patan or Bhaktapur.

8. Juju Dhau

Juju dhau is a famous curd of Bhaktapur which is served in the small clay pot, Matka. Do not worry, your mouth won’t be muddy, it is the traditional form of serving the curd.

9. Samosa

Similar to that of Mo Mo, Samosa is larger in size and is found in different place. In the dough, the filling of smashed potato mixed with various spices, corianders and chilly is filled and is served with a chutney.

10. Pani Puri

If you are craving for a spicy and sour food to try, then pani puri is the best choice. People of different age group try it. And it is found on every corner of and many cities in Nepal.
