People are at the heart of everything we do: we strive to ensure that the benefits of travel stay within local communities, and keep any negative impacts to a minimum.

As we grow, the communities around us share in that growth. A certain profit from our business is contributed to various projects all over the country, which includes:

  • Building and operating School in one of the marginalized communities - Chepang Gaun through Roshan’s Friend Project.

  • Supporting local school at Khani Gaun of Sindhupalchok

  • Supporting different local home stay programs and education the locals about maintaining the standard and hygiene of the home stay

  • Supporting Drinking water project to local community through Roshan`s Friend Project in Chitwan District

  • Lunched of self-empowerment program at local community of Chitwan District

  • Full Scholarship to study in University for 2 under privileged students

  • Provided Full Scholarship for 2 under privileged students for 10 years

  • Organized Free medical camp in Dhading district

  • Cleaning campaign in different religious sites and riverbanks in Kavre district

  • First aid training in different high schools in remote villages of Kaski and Dhading district

  • Distribution of stationery goods for under privileged students in different parts of country.

  • Built public toilets in remote village of Sindhupalchok district.

  • Supporting on Building a community hall for locals in Sindupalchok district.

  • Installation of solar panel in day care schools for deprived children in Kathmandu.

  • Contribution on building houses, distribution of foods and clothing’s with medical kits in the area of Sindupalchok, Nuwakot and Dhading district for around 700 local villages at the time of earthquake.

  • Contributing on different children homes through volunteering and providing necessary support on logistics.

Volunteerism

Highlander coordinates with different children’s home around Kathmandu valley for the right volunteer placements.

Volunteerism is one of the best ways to experience a country. Through this, one can get a first hand experiences of the culture, language and daily life-style of the locals as well as contribute to the betterment of their lives. Similarly, volunteer works not only lead to great experiences, but also ensures that you go back home having made an impact. Most placements take place in and around the capital Kathmandu, with some specific placements taking place in trekking areas and in other towns and villages of Nepal. The period of volunteering depends entirely on the type of work, demand and requirement of the organization as well as the volunteer. General time period include a minimum of one week to three months. But this could vary as per the need and requirements. This is an entirely self- financed volunteering opportunity.
