Bhairab Kunda

Bhairav Kunda is named after the destructive aspect of Lord Shiva and is one of the sacred pilgrimage sites for Shamans. Both Hindus and Buddhist devotees visit this high altitude (4150m) holy mountain lake to pay homage and bathe away sins during every Bhadra (August) Full Moon.

Experience the trek to shaman pilgrimage site through untouched traditional village, spectacular Himalayan landscape. The unusual climatic and geographical mix makes this area a naturalist dream and a mecca for those who appreciate traditional cultures.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Welcome to the Capital of Nepal “KATHMANDU”. Upon Arrival our representative will welcome you and drive you to Hotel. Refresh and Relax


Day 2: Explore Kathmandu

"Kathmandu" which has exclusive blend of art, culture, history and religion. It bears varieties from pre-history to modern art, culture and custom. Today we explore some of it most popular UNESCO heritage sites.  Afternoon walk around the main tourist hub of Kathmandu and prepare for your trek.


Day 3: Kathmandu - Chanaute

A nice scenic drive from Kathmandu with some mountain views takes us towards the Tibetan Border. After couple of hours we turn off from the main road and our rough road to Chanaute begins, which is a small local village.

Heights: Kathmandu 1350m, Chanaute 1250m

Day 4: Chanaute - Khani Gaon

Most of the day ascend steeply on small walking trails, stopping for welcome rests and to enjoy the beautiful views. Passing through villages, stunningly terraced fields, streams we arrive at Khani Gaon a small village. It was founded after the battle between Gorkha and Bhaktapur in the middle of 18th B.S, when the people of Bhaktapur fled to this site.

Day 5: Khani Gaon - Forest Camp

Ascend steeply through beautiful Rhododendron forest and the occasional grazing pasture, where you can see nomad houses for cattle to reach forest camp. If you are lucky, you might could encounter some wild animals.

Heights: Forest Camp 3150m
Trekking time: approx.6 hours

Day 6: Forest Camp - Pati

Continue your ascent through Pine and Rhododendron forest all the way to pati. Nice view of mountain could be seen, and some houses made by pilgrims.

Heights: Pati 3900m
Trekking time: approx.4 hours
Congratulation to you and your team, you made it possible for us to complete our fist trek. This is not a small accomplishment as it made a guy of 125 kg able and happy to endure the trek with great joy. Day 7: Rest day

Today you rest to let your body adjust to the altitude, ready for your next ascent tomorrow.


Day 8: Pati - Bhairav Kunda

Today it is around one hour’s uphill walk and then level walking for about two and a half hours to Bhairav Kunda. Bhairav Kunda is 4150m high and there is a big holy lake and a small temple of lord Shiva. “Bhairav” is the destructive form of Lord Shiva and Kunda means “Lake”. Once in a year in June/July pilgrims from different parts of Nepal come to take holy baths and worship.

Day 9: Bhairav Kunda - Bhairav viewpoint

You have an early morning walk up hill for about one and a half hours to the top to see the sun rise and mountain view of Langtang, Jugal Himal Range, Rolwaling Range and Tibetan Range. After breakfast back at Bhairav Kunda you will trek steeply down for about 6 hours through forest to Sherpa village.

Heights: Viewpoint 4500m, Sherpa Gaon 2500m
Trekking time: approx.6-7 hours

Day 10: Sherpa gaon - Larche (1400 M) – Kathmandu

Your last day of trekking has a steep downhill for about 3 and a half hours to the bank of the Bhote Koshi River at a place called Larche. You will have lunch and then drive back to Kathmandu, which takes around six hours.

Heights: Larche 1400m
Driving time: approx.6 hours drive

Day 11: Free day and Shopping

Its free day today, walk around and find a nice souvenir.


Day 12: Fly back

We drive you to airport and farewell.
