Langtang - Gosainkunda Trek

This Langtang Gosaikunda trek is a combination of alpine walk through Langtang valley and reaching one of the most popular holy lake, Gosainkunda. Explore the Tibetan culture and absolute view of Langtang range and the glaciers. The holy lake of Gosainkunda gives you the inner peace and satisfaction. Once every year in June/July a big festival takes place where thousands of devotees and shamans visits the lake of Gosainkunda to take holy bath and to wash away the sin. Cross over the challenging pass of Gosainkunda and enjoy the beautiful villages and forestage back to Kathmandu.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Welcome to the Capital of Nepal “KATHMANDU”. Upon Arrival our representative will welcome you and drive you to Hotel. Refresh and Relax


Day 2: Explore Kathmandu

"Kathmandu" which has exclusive blend of art, culture, history and religion. It bears varieties from pre-history to modern art, culture and custom. Today we explore some of it most popular UNESCO heritage sites.  Afternoon walk around the main tourist hub of Kathmandu and prepare for your trek.


Day 3: Kathmandu drive to Syabrubesi

We take a scenic drive to Syabru besi from Kathmandu. The 7 to 8 hours’ drive to North of Kathmandu passing by river valley, terraced fields, plenty of suburbs and breathtaking views is indeed a great experience. Sybaru besi stands next to the confluence of Bhotekoshi and Langtang Khola. The entire setting is aired by the ripple of the giant river.

Driving hour: approx.7-8 hours

Day 4: Trek to Lama Hotel

Upon crossing Bhote koshi River over a suspension bridge we follow gentle climb to Bamboo through the forest and following the Langtang Khola. Subsequently the trail gets uphill and takes you more into the forest of rhododendron, oak and bamboo. After crossing the Langtang Khola to your left side the trail gets steep up until Lama Hotel. Lama hotel has few tea houses to offer.

Trekking Time: approx.5-6 hours

Day 5: Trek to Langtang Village

Continue our trek to Langtang village via Ghore Tabela and experience the marvelous views of Langtang Lirung. Pass by water mills, prayer wheels, chortens, with sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them. The trail continues to climb gently, and the valley widens, passing a few temporary settlements used by herders who bring their livestock to graze in the high pastures during the summer months.

Day 6: Trek to Kyanjin Gomba

A morning greeting from bright and white Langtang Mountain inspires us to move further. We walk by some small village alleys and cross Small River. The trail afterwards is engineered with plenty of Mani walls which stand for the best travel wishes. We get to see many giant rocks standing tall amidst green pastures. Final segment is along the rocky trail crossing couple of streams. Kyanjin Gomba is small valley with few tea houses run by Sherpa people. The lifestyle in Kyanjin Gomba is highly influenced by Tibetan culture. We can pay a visit to Gomba (monastery) and Yak Cheese factory.

Day 7: Hike to Kyanjin Ri and trek to Lama Hotel

If you are in good physical mood, then can hike to Kyanjin Ri (4743m). A stunning view of Langtant Lirung Himal, Dorje Himal and beautiful Kyanjin valley could be seen from Kyaning Ri (4743m). Then we retrace back to Lama hotel.

Day 8: Trek to Thulo Syabru

We descend to Pairo via Bamboo following the forest and Langtang Khola. From Pairo the trail is steep up through rhododendron, oak and bamboo forest. En route we could see red pandas, monkeys and various species of birds. Upon crossing Chopche Khola over suspension bridge we come to the boarder of Thulo Syabru and yet we have next one-hour gradual uphill trail to execute in order to check in Thulo Syabru Village. Thulo Syabru is access point to Dhunche and Gosaikunda with magnificent view of Langtang Lirung and Ganesh Himal.

Day 9: Trek to Sin Gompa

We follow the steep path along with the view of Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal. The forest en route is occupied by Oak, Hemlock and Firs trees. Then the trail becomes little soft with gentle ascends for some distance which is followed by level walk to Sin Gompa. Sin Gompa if famous for its well managed cheese factories. If time permits, then you can pay a visit to Gompa (monastery) and cheese factories.

Day 10: Trek to Gosaikunda

The first section of the trail appears with gentle ascend to Laurebina (3910m). Along the way we can enjoy dramatic view of Langtang Lirung. From Laurebina the trail ascends further to small pass (4400m.) On crossing the pass trail gently descends to Gosaikunda. Gosaikunda is a holy lake that hosts a holy fair called Janaipurnima in August. There are around dozens of lakes in the Gosaikunda basin but major one is Gosaikunda. This place is occupied by some roofless stone huts which are the only logistic facility in the area.

Trekking Time: approx.5-6 hours

Day 11: Trek to Ghopte via Laurebina Pass

Enjoy watching pristine lake abridging the heaven down to earth. Take a deep breath and continue your trek to Ghopte. The trail is rocky and steep up until the Laurebina Pass passing by few lakes. Being on the top gives you a lifetime opportunity to take final glimpse mysterious amalgam of natural diversities. Take long descend to Ghopte. In route you will be able to pass by Thai Airbus Crash spot. Relax in the tea house in Ghopte with beautiful mountain views available from tea house.

Height: Lauribina pass 4610m, Ghopte 3420m
Trekking Time: approx.6-7 hours

Day 12: Trek to Mangengoth

After breakfast we descend to Kharka through forest. Then we have gentle climb to Tharapati Bhanjyang. Subsequently the trail gently descends through the forests long the ridge. Mangengoth is small village of Tamang people.

Height: Magengoth 2470m
Trekking Time: approx.5 hours

Day 13: Trek to Golphu Bhanjyang

We have steep uphill walk until Kyula Bhanjyang. And a gentle walk along the trail is followed by downhill walk through few human settlements and a forest takes you to Kutumsang. We can stay overnight here as well if you are extremely tired and exhausted or we move further to Golphu Bhanjyang.

Trekking Time: approx.5-6 hours

Day 14: Trek to Chisapani

Enjoy the mountains from your breakfast station and get ready to walk. Mostly we walk through the forests and few villages and terraced fields. After performing few ups and downs we come to Pati Bhanjyang. From Pati Bhanjyang the trail descends for one hour. The final climb of the day for approx one and half hour takes us to the Chisapani.

Trekking Time: approx.5 hours

Day 15: Trek to Sundarijal and drive back to Kathmandu

Take a final glimpse of the mountain from tea house and get ready for final walk of the trip. We descend gently through the forest. After a long walk inside the jungle we come to Mulkharaka village. Then we descend down passing by village and to Sundarijal. Along the way we see Nepal's oldest hydroelectricity project. Ride back to Kathmandu.

Day 16: Fly back
